Warning:
If you have any of the products listed below you should consider having them inspected for (Undocumented) Chinese rogue equipment inside that could be used to shut your solar system off or worse....
Don't panic, it appears to be targeted to systems larger than a typical house hold system. But I post this to err on the side of caution.

Below is a clip from an article about the discovery of cell phone ‘switches’ and other devices built into chinese made power inverters & batteries:

“In March, researchers from Forescout Research’s Vedere Labs uncovered vulnerabilities in solar power systems after analyzing six major inverter manufacturers, including Huawei, Sungrow, and SMA Solar Technology.

The study, called SUN:DOWN, revealed that Sungrow, SMA, and Growatt had nearly 50 vulnerabilities that could potentially disrupt the power grid and cause blackouts. In total, 93 known vulnerabilities were identified, with 80 percent classified as high or critical severity, scoring between 9.8 and 10 on the CVSS scale. These vulnerabilities pose significant risks, allowing for potential attacks on power grids and smart-home devices.”

Above are some of the inverter brands affected. Batteries too have been found with rogue devices… Lithium Iron Phosphate from china. I have not been able to find any brand information about batteries with rogue devices. Still looking.

What is being done about the problem?

While the U.S. companies potentially impacted by the rogue inverters have yet to be publicly disclosed, a pair of U.S. Senators introduced legislation earlier this year known as the Decoupling from Foreign Adversarial Battery Act. The bill prevents the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from obtaining batteries from Chinese companies, citing national security concerns. It takes effect in 2027.
Batteries and battery cell makers: NOTE EVE makes automotive cells along with some others.

The six companies that would be barred from business with DHS include Contemporary Amperex Technology Company, BYD, Envision Energy, EVE Energy Company, Lithium Energy Storage Technology and Gotion High-tech. Huawei, mentioned in the Reuters report, is no longer present in the U.S. market but remains a major supplier of inverters globally.

None of the companies mentioned above has commented on the Reuters report.

Have there been any notable instances of sabotage?

Reuters findings follow the disabling of solar power inverters in November in the United States and other regions from China. The incident underscores the risk of foreign adversaries disrupting electricity grids and has sparked concern among government officials, according to three people who spoke with Reuters. The number of inverters switched off nor how widespread the issue was has not been revealed and the DOE has declined to comment on the matter.

Some European nations have passed legislation to protect against potential rogue Chinese inverters within solar, wind and other battery energy sources, including Estonia and Lithuania.

Radioactivity Hoax ???

Radio Activity from chinese lithium batteries appears to be a hoax. I have tested the 3 different brands I own and use with a gieger counter and found nothing out of the ordinary radiating from them. These were the 200ah LI Time(formerly Ampere Time), 200ah TimeUSB, and 100ah WattCycle brands I tested.  This doesn't mean the information isn't true, I just haven't found any radiation coming from the 3 brands I use. Some are less than 6 months old (12/24) and one is 3 years old so we have a spread of time to compare against. But there are dozens of brands out there and it's possible that anything that is made from earth materials could have some radioactivity. For example, concrete blocks are more radioactive than brick and so forth.  For now I'm not getting concerned about it. I would see no reason for a company to make a product like that dangerous.  I would be more concerned about the americium 241 in smoke and fire detectors, it is dangerous with direct contact long term exposure.

I will update this page as I find more information. 5/16/2025.

It should be noted that the devices recommended by us are under inspection. Schnieder Electric, which makes commercial gear we recommend is made in France and is not subject to this investigation. Nor are the american made solar panels like Heliene, canadian solar, etc.

Thand you for stopping by.
